Week 9 Post-Hip Replacement: Progress on the Pickleball Court!
It’s hard to believe it’s already been nine weeks since my hip replacement surgery. The journey has had its ups and downs, but this week marked a significant milestone: I played four relatively competitive games of pickleball!
Back on the Court
Returning to the pickleball court felt incredible. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of a good rally or the satisfaction of a well-placed shot. That said, my newly repaired hip still fatigues quicker than the other, reminding me to pace myself and listen to my body. But the good news is I no longer wake up in the middle of the night due to hip pain, which is a huge relief.
Physical Therapy Ramping Up
My physical therapy sessions have become more demanding as I work to build strength and endurance. The exercises are tough, but they’re essential for my recovery and long-term mobility. Each session brings me one step closer to full strength, and I’m grateful for the progress I’m making.
Lob Shots: My Nemesis
Of course, no pickleball update would be complete without a mention of my fellow players. Neil, Marilyn, and Jim have been relentless with their lob shots, clearly taking advantage of my current condition. I have to say, those high, arching shots are giving me quite the workout! I know they’re just trying to keep me on my toes (literally), and I appreciate the friendly competition.
Gratitude for Support
I want to take a moment to thank everyone for the kind words and well wishes. Your support has been a tremendous source of motivation and encouragement throughout my recovery. Knowing that so many people are rooting for me makes each day a little brighter and every milestone more meaningful.
As I continue this journey, I’m reminded of the resilience and determination that pickleball players and leaders alike embody. Whether on the court or in the boardroom, we face challenges head-on and strive for excellence. Here’s to more progress and fewer lob shots in the weeks to come!
Until next time, lead with passion, inspire with dedication, and foster an environment where everyone feels welcome.
