Week Six, Day Five of Recovery: Intense Physical Therapy and a Return to the Court

Today marks week six, day five of my recovery from hip replacement surgery, and I’m thrilled to share some exciting progress with you all. My physical therapy sessions have become more intense, pushing me to new limits, and I was able to visit Hawk Park for a light game of pickleball. This milestone is a testament to the power of perseverance, support, and the relentless pursuit of recovery.

Increasing Intensity in Physical Therapy

As the weeks have progressed, so has the intensity of my physical therapy. The exercises are more challenging, designed to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Each session pushes me beyond my comfort zone, but it’s these very challenges that are propelling my recovery forward.

Physical therapy has taught me the importance of gradual progress and the need to celebrate small victories along the way. Each session, each new exercise conquered, is a step closer to full recovery.

Returning to the Court

The highlight of my week was visiting Hawk Park and being able to dink on the pickleball court. Dinking, a soft shot in pickleball, might seem like a small feat, but for me, it was a huge accomplishment. It felt incredible to be back on the court, engaging in a sport I love, even if it was just light activity.

This experience reminded me of the importance of setting realistic goals and celebrating every achievement, no matter how small. It’s about enjoying the journey as much as the destination.

Gratitude for the Support

I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their unwavering support and words of encouragement throughout my recovery journey. Your messages, calls, and visits have been a constant source of motivation and strength. Knowing that I have a community cheering me on has made all the difference.

Leadership Lessons

1. Perseverance: Intense physical therapy sessions remind me that perseverance is key to overcoming challenges. In leadership, pushing through difficult times with determination is essential for achieving long-term goals.
2. Celebrating Progress: Whether it’s mastering a new exercise or dinking on the pickleball court, celebrating progress keeps morale high and motivation strong. Leaders should acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of their team, no matter how small.
3. Support Systems: The support from my family, friends, and medical team has been invaluable. As leaders, recognizing and appreciating the contributions of our support systems is crucial for sustained success.

Looking Ahead

As I continue my recovery journey, I’m excited about the progress I’m making and the milestones yet to come. Thank you all for being a part of this journey with me. Your support means the world to me, and together, we will continue to navigate challenges and celebrate victories.

Stay strong, motivated, and supportive in your own journeys.

Warm regards,

Dr. K.
